Voice of the Child Report
Both the Divorce Act and the Children’s Law Reform Act provide that a child’s views and preferences should be taken into consideration when resolving parenting issues.
One way to ascertain the views and preferences of a child is to obtain a Voice of the Child Report (“VOC Report”).
A VOC Report is a non-evaluative report of the child’s views, wishes, preferences, and concerns. Its purpose is to help parents focus on the child when resolving parenting disputes, as well as assist the parents in settlement.
